Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using the Quizlet application on improving the vocabulary learning outcomes of 8th-grade students at SMPN 14 Ambon. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the research involved 50 students divided equally into two groups: 25 students in the experimental class and 25 in the control class. The experimental group received treatment using Quizlet as a learning media, while the control group followed conventional instruction without the use of any digital tools. Statistical analysis, including the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Levene’s test for homogeneity, confirmed that the data met the assumptions for parametric testing. The paired sample t-test showed significant improvement in both groups, but with greater gains in the experimental class. Furthermore, the independent samples t-test indicated a statistically significant difference between the two groups after treatment (p < 0.05), confirming that the use of Quizlet had a stronger effect on students’ vocabulary acquisition than conventional methods. In conclusion, the study provides empirical evidence that the use of Quizlet as an interactive learning tool is effective in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery. Its game-like features and engaging learning modes contribute to better comprehension, increased motivation, and improved academic performance among students.
